The Opportunity
As the Coordinator for SA/IPV, you will play a pivotal role in providing culturally grounded, consent-based, and trauma-informed care to relatives seeking support after experiencing sexualized violence. Your ability to create a welcoming and safe environment, navigate community and clinical resources, and hold space for relatives will ensure that those accessing Ka Ni Kanichihk receive holistic, high-quality care. You will build strong relationships, empowering relatives to make informed choices and ensuring that their voices are respected at every stage of their healing journey.
What You Will Be Doing…
- Leading the SA/IPV program by providing trauma-informed, culturally safe, and consent-based care for relatives affected by sexualized violence
- Supervising and supporting a team of 3+ staff, offering coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment
- Overseeing daily operations, including managing schedules, tracking program statistics, and administering budgets
- Building partnerships with community organizations like Klinic, Health Sciences Centre, and SANE, while incorporating Traditional Healers and Knowledge Keepers into the care framework
- Providing crisis management support by developing clear processes and strategies to respond to crises while ensuring staff and relative safety
- Managing the intake and follow-up process, maintaining confidential documentation, and ensuring ongoing support for relatives
- Offering culturally appropriate resources, including access to Indigenous medicines, teachings, and ceremonies
- Coordinating relevant training and debriefing sessions for staff to address the emotionally challenging aspects of the work and ensure staff well-being
- Navigating community and clinical resources to help relatives access the care they need and follow up on their journey to healing
- Supporting community engagement by fostering positive relationships with relatives and local partners, ensuring care pathways are seamless and culturally grounded
You Have…
- Post-secondary education in Community Health, Social Work, Indigenous or Gender Studies, or a combination of education and 3+ years of relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in crisis management and strategic crisis response
- Minimum 2 years of experience supervising and supporting staff
- Knowledge of sex positivity, harm reduction, decolonization, and trauma-informed practices
- Strong understanding of Indigenous culture, spirituality, and traditional healing
- Experience in budget management and program administration
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, anti-racist, and equitable environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required
- Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Abuse Registry clearance required (within 6 months)
- Emergency First Aid and CPR certification an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification an asset
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
