Human Resource Specialist
Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. Is a nonprofit, community based; Indigenous lead human services organization that provides a range of Indigenous identified programs and services that focus on the wholeness, wellness and that builds on the strengths and resilience of Indigenous People.
Position Summary: The Human Resource Administrator is responsible for administration of the HR functions of the organization, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling and analyzing the operations of the Human Resources department. Key areas of responsibility include assisting with the development and implementation of policy and procedure; recruitment, orientation and training, benefits administrator, health and safety and other areas as directed. In addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established Organizational policies and procedures. This role further requires the individual to maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of a professional development program in Human Resources, including labour degree, college diploma or other related program of study
- 2-4 years of direct Human Resources experience. (Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be evaluated).
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.
- Ability to maintain and preserve strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to draft, interpret and implement policies and procedures.
- Must be computer literate with specific experience in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Windows programs WORD and EXCEL; experience in Human Resource software
- Knowledge of human resources operations.
- Communicate effectively and diplomatically orally and in writing.
- Proven skill to format and draft correspondence, forms, reports, and proposals.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to take initiative and work with direct and minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of income tax forms, health benefits programs, various employee leave management, retirement plans, employee stats, etc.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work with direct and minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated work knowledge of multiple human resource areas preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws, conflict and policies.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Demonstrated experience with full-cycle recruitment, onboarding and departures.
- Proven skill to format and draft correspondence, forms, reports, and proposals.
- Ability to interpret and implement organization policies and procedures.
