About the Role
This position is to support the “Mino Pimatisiwin STBBI Strategy” and its participants to receive STBBI health care services.
The Community Host will be the person who recruits and welcomes people into the space, provide information and resources that support people to make informed choices about STBBI testing as part of their sexual health, and contributes to a high quality, culturally safe testing experience. The team of Community Hosts will include people of diverse sexual and gender identities, with a commitment to sex positive approaches to sexual health. The Community Host will collect necessary information from the participants, facilitate the respondent driven sampling/ chain referral process, and provide peer support and education. In addition, Community Hosts will work as a team in supervision of the space, programming support, scheduling of sexual health related appointments for the participants, and provide presentations of Mino Pimatisiwin and Ka Ni Kanichihk services. The position will include work in the community and in the clinical space. The incumbent will work alongside other Community Hosts, or Ka Ni Kanichihk staff.
The goals of this position are to foster relationships with the community and support a sex positive approach to sexual health to support the participants in meeting their own personal health goals. This position will work alongside clinical and community leadership as well as Traditional Healers/ Knowledge Keepers.
What you bring
The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated individual who meets the following essential requirements:
 Relevant post-secondary education, or combination of education and relevant experience;
 Knowledge base of traditional Indigenous culture, spirituality and traditions is required;
 Demonstrated ability working in sex positive, harm reduction, trauma informed, anti-racist and decolonizing environments;
 Knowledge of local community resources
 Knowledge in community development and advocacy
 Ability to use Microsoft Office, digital communication software and ability to learn new record keeping programs;
 A valid driver’s license; access to a vehicle considered an asset
 Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
