Full-time Position (Term – 7 months)
Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is a nonprofit, community based, Indigenous led human services organization that provides a
range of Indigenous identified programs and services that focus on the wholeness, wellness and that builds on the
strengths and resilience of Indigenous People.

What We Need

Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is seeking a motivated and committed Facilitator for The Butterfly Club as a positive role model
for Indigenous girls and two spirit youth, 9-13 years of age. The Facilitator is responsible for program facilitation,
classroom management, creating lesson and meal plans, cooking program meals, and some safety planning,
budgeting, conflict prevention and resolution, as well as assisting the Coordinator and taking initiative in other tasks
as they come up. Programs run every Monday and Thursday evening, a few Tuesday evenings, and one weekend day
(normally a Saturday) a month. The program – focusing on Indigenous cultural reclamation, environmental
stewardship, self-development, leadership, and community involvement – provides youth an opportunity to develop
self-confidence, a sense of belonging, protective factors, and involvement in things they may otherwise not have
access to.

The program requires a commitment to at least mid-April 2020 in order to truly make a positive impact in these
youth’s lives.

What You Bring
 Relevant post-secondary education, or combination of education and experience in community or program
facilitation
 Three (3) years’ experience working with Indigenous youth
 Experience in program planning and delivery
 Demonstrated leadership skills
 High energy level with strong work ethics
 Excellent organizational, classroom management, and time management skills
 Shows high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
 Knowledge of community resources
 Knowledge of and committed to addressing issues that Indigenous girls and two spirit youth and adults
experience
 Must be prepared to work flexible hours including 2 evenings a week, and 1 weekend day a month
 Must have a driver’s License and reliable vehicle
Assets
 Knowledge of Indigenous culture and spirituality
 Food Safe certification
Candidates are required to provide a current (must be within 6 months) Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse
Registry Check, a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and a driver’s abstract.
